Overview

## What we do, composite doors

01

A composite door replaces your existing front or back door with a made-to-measure unit built around a solid timber or GRP core, faced with a moulded skin, hung on heavy-duty hinges and secured with multi-point locking. We supply and fit composite doors across Kent, London, Surrey and the wider South East.

02

This service is for homeowners with a tired timber or early uPVC front door, anyone concerned about security following a break-in nearby, and buyers of older properties who inherit a door that is neither warm nor secure. Landlords upgrading rental stock use composite doors because the maintenance profile is close to zero.

03

Professional installation matters because a composite door is only as secure as its frame anchoring and cylinder specification. A well-made door hung in a badly-fitted frame gives the same intruder resistance as an ordinary door. Our fitters bed the frame into the reveal with the correct fixings, specify anti-snap and anti-bump cylinders as standard, and align the multi-point mechanism so it engages cleanly every time.

Why it matters

## What happens if you leave it

Front doors are the entry point in a large share of UK domestic burglaries, most commonly through cylinder snapping, an attack that takes seconds against an unrated cylinder and defeats the whole multi-point lock in the process. If your existing door still runs an older-generation cylinder you are relying on the intruder not knowing.

Beyond security, old doors leak heat and let in noise. A poorly-sealed timber door can lose more heat per square metre than any other opening in the house. Rooms next to draughty front doors are the ones the family avoids on winter evenings.

The most common mistake we correct is spending on a good-looking door with the standard cylinder that came in the box. Upgrading to a 3-star anti-snap cylinder at the time of install is a small line on the quote that makes a large difference to real-world security.

Our process

## From first call to sign-off

- STEP 1

### Sales representative visit
One of our sales representatives comes out first to walk the property, understand what you want, talk through options, materials and finishes, and outline indicative pricing. No pressure, no time-limited discounts.

- STEP 2

### Surveyor & fixed written quote
If you want to proceed, our surveyor attends separately to measure every opening precisely, check structural context (lintels, thresholds, reveals) and lock in the specification. You then receive a fixed written quote to compare like-for-like.

- STEP 3

### Manufacture
Doors are made to survey dimensions with the correct hand of opening. Lead time is typically three to four weeks; we book a fitting date the moment stock lands.

- STEP 4

### In-house fitting team install
The old door and frame come out, the new frame is fixed into the reveal with correct anchoring, the door is hung and adjusted, and cylinders and multi-point mechanism are set up and tested.

- STEP 5

### Sign-off, FENSA & guarantee
We demonstrate operation, hand over keys and care instructions, register with FENSA and issue your 10-year guarantee.

Benefits

## What you actually get

### Real-world security
Multi-point locking, anti-snap cylinders and reinforced frame anchoring dramatically raise the effort required to force the door.

### Thermal performance
Solid core construction and thermally-broken frames stop the heat loss that older timber and early uPVC doors are notorious for.

### Quiet & weather-tight
Compression seals on all four sides shut out draughts, road noise and driving rain.

### Zero-maintenance finish
The moulded skin does not need sanding, staining or painting. A wipe with a soft cloth keeps it looking new.

### Kerb appeal
A well-chosen composite door lifts the whole front elevation of a house, one of the highest-return improvements in home value terms.

### Long service life
Correctly specified composite doors are engineered for 25+ years of daily use with only routine hinge and cylinder maintenance.

Specification

## Composite Doors, how we specify

Composite doors come in a wide range of styles and specifications. Below are the choices we walk through at survey and the details that separate a good install from a great one.

### Construction
The doors we supply have a solid timber or high-density GRP core sandwiched between an insulating layer and a moulded outer skin. That construction gives the door its acoustic mass, its thermal performance and its ability to hold multi-point hardware without warping.

### Styles & colours
We install traditional panelled styles that suit Victorian and Edwardian frontages, contemporary flush and grooved designs for newer properties, and cottage-style doors for period homes across Sevenoaks and rural Kent. Colours span the RAL palette; anthracite grey and Chartwell green remain the most-specified, with black and dark red close behind.

### Glazing options
Fully solid, small vision panels, large side-lights, top-lights and full glass-topped door-with-sidelights arrangements are all possible. All glazing is toughened or laminated as required by building regulations for door apertures.

### Hardware & security
We specify 3-star Kitemarked anti-snap, anti-bump, anti-pick cylinders as standard, paired with multi-point hookbolt or shootbolt locking. Hinge bolts and anti-lift keeps are included. Handle and letterplate finishes coordinate through chrome, black, brass and satin options.

### Residential vs commercial
Small commercial front doors, office entrances, small HMOs, have additional requirements around means of escape (thumb-turn cylinders on the inside) and door-closers. We specify these at survey where applicable.

FAQ

## Common questions

### How much does a composite front door cost, supplied and installed?
+Every home is different, so we do not publish rates. Price depends on size, specification, glass, access and any structural work involved. Request a free survey and we will issue a fixed written quote before any work starts.

### How long does installation take?
+A straight door swap into an existing opening is usually a single-day install. We aim to leave you locked and secure by the end of the day, every time.

### Are composite doors secure?
+Yes, when specified correctly. We fit 3-star Kitemarked anti-snap cylinders as standard, with multi-point locking and reinforced frame anchoring. That combination is what makes real-world forced entry difficult.

### Do you offer emergency lock repair on existing doors?
+We only carry out repairs on doors we originally installed. If Swift fitted your door, we prioritise callouts inside your 10-year guarantee. We do not attend emergency lock or hardware repairs on doors installed by other companies.

### How long should a composite door last?
+Correctly specified composite doors are engineered for 25+ years of daily use. Cylinders and hinges are serviceable and can be renewed if ever needed without replacing the door.

### Do you handle FENSA?
+Yes. We self-certify every door installation with FENSA and issue the certificate to you directly on completion.

### Can I choose any colour?
+Colour choice spans the RAL range with a curated palette of most-specified finishes shown at survey. Woodgrain and smooth options are both available.

### Are you insured?
+Yes, £5 million Public Liability and £10 million Employers' Liability. Certificates are available on request.

### What guarantee do I get?
+One 10-year Swift guarantee covering workmanship, the door slab and hardware, with any manufacturer cover included inside those 10 years. Backed by a company (03679915) trading since 1998.

### Do you cover my area?
+We cover London, Kent, Surrey and the South East from our Greenhithe base. Call 01322 221010 if you are unsure about your postcode.
