## Where we are and when to come

Swift Home Improvements has been based in this part of north Kent since 1998. We started in a small local unit and later moved to our current premises at 215 London Road, Stone, Greenhithe DA9 9DQ, where the office, the workshop and the showroom now sit under one roof. That matters more than it sounds: when you visit, you are not standing in a sales unit run by a franchise, you are standing where the surveying, ordering and after-care for your job will actually be handled.

The showroom is where you can do the things a brochure and a website cannot let you do. Open and close a bi-fold. Feel the weight of a composite door and the difference between a 44mm and a 70mm slab. Hold an anthracite grey foil next to a cream and a chartwell green in real daylight rather than on a backlit screen. Look at glazing bar options, obscure glass patterns, handle finishes and hinge details side by side. Most people arrive with two or three choices in mind and leave having changed one of them, usually the colour.

We are a few minutes from Bluewater, close to the A2 and the Dartford crossing, and easily reached from Dartford, Gravesend, Bexley, Bromley, Sidcup and across into south east London and Essex. There is free parking directly on site, so you can bring measurements, photographs of your property or plans from an architect and spread them out on a table with us.

We are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays by appointment. You do not need an appointment during the week, but calling ahead on 01322 221010 is worth doing for two reasons: we can make sure the products you specifically want to see are out on display, and we can have someone free who knows that part of the range rather than asking you to wait.

What's on display

## What you can see and compare in person

### Windows
uPVC casement, sliding sash and tilt-and-turn units alongside slim-frame aluminium, so you can compare sightlines, glass area and how each one actually opens. Bring a photograph of your elevation and we will tell you which system suits it.

### Composite and uPVC doors
Door slabs in a range of colours and styles, with the glazing designs, letterplates, knockers, handles and multi-point locking you would actually specify. The difference between door ranges is far more obvious in person than in a brochure.

### Bi-folds and patio doors
Operate a bi-fold and a sliding patio door yourself. How a door feels to open every day is the single most useful thing a showroom visit tells you, and it often decides the choice between the two.

### Colours, foils and finishes
Anthracite grey, cream, chartwell green, black, woodgrain foils and the RAL range, viewed in daylight. Screens misrepresent colour badly, which is why we keep physical samples.

### Glass and glazing options
A-rated argon-filled units, acoustic laminate for busy roads, solar-control coatings for south-facing rooms, obscure patterns for bathrooms, and Georgian or astragal bar options for period properties.

### Conservatory and roof samples
Warm roof build-ups, tile finishes, lantern sections and conservatory frame corners, so you can see how a warm roof differs from glass and where the insulation actually sits.

How a visit works

## A showroom visit, then a survey at your home

01

### Come and see the products
Call 01322 221010 or use the form below to let us know roughly what you are looking at and when you would like to come. Weekdays need no appointment; Saturdays do. Bring photographs, rough measurements and any plans.

02

### Sales representative visit at home
A showroom visit tells you what you want; a home visit tells us what is possible. One of our sales representatives comes to the property, looks at the openings and the structure, talks through options and gives indicative pricing.

03

### Surveyor and fixed written quote
If you want to go ahead, our surveyor attends separately, measures precisely and locks the specification. You then get a fixed written quote, and the work is installed by our own employed fitting team with a 10-year Swift guarantee.

We never quote from a showroom conversation alone, because a price given without a survey is a guess that gets corrected later, usually upwards. Every quote we issue is fixed in writing after a proper measure, and it includes making good and FENSA registration where the work is notifiable.

Local to you

## Easy to reach from across Kent, London and Essex

Greenhithe sits on the Thames between Dartford and Gravesend, and the showroom is on London Road in Stone, minutes from Bluewater and from the A2 and A282. If you are coming from London, Bromley, Beckenham or Chislehurst, the A2 brings you almost to the door. From Essex, the Dartford crossing puts us within a short drive on the Kent side.

Because our office and workshop are here too, being local genuinely means something: our fitters leave from Greenhithe, our surveyor covers the same roads every week, and if something needs attention after installation, the people who did the work are the people who come back.

We install across Kent, London, Surrey, Essex and the wider South East, and each area has its own page with the property types and planning constraints we see there, from conservation-area sash windows in Sevenoaks and Chislehurst to 1930s bays across Bromley and Beckenham.

Choosing well

## What a showroom visit settles that a brochure cannot

Three decisions cause most of the second thoughts we hear about later, and all three are far easier to make with the product in front of you. The first is colour. Anthracite grey looks almost black on a phone screen and distinctly blue-grey in daylight against red brick. Cream reads as white online and as warm off-white in reality. Seeing foils in natural light next to a brick or render sample from your own house avoids the one regret we cannot fix after manufacture, because a frame is finished before it leaves the factory.

The second is how a door or window opens. Bi-folds fold and stack to one side, sliding patio doors glide with a larger uninterrupted pane, and French doors simply swing. Every one of them looks similar in a photograph and behaves completely differently in a room with a dining table in it. Two minutes of opening and closing each one usually settles a decision that had been going back and forth for weeks.

The third is frame depth and sightline. On a period bay, the difference between a standard casement profile and a slim flush-fit or timber-effect system changes the glass area and the whole character of the elevation. Standing in front of a corner sample makes that obvious in seconds, where a specification sheet full of millimetre figures does not.

Beyond the products, a visit gives you the chance to ask the awkward questions in person: what the 10-year guarantee actually covers, who turns up on fitting day, how FENSA registration works when you sell, what happens if a hinge needs adjusting in year three. We would far rather answer those across a table in Greenhithe than have you guess from a website. If you would prefer to start at home instead, book a representative visit and we will bring samples to you.

Showroom FAQs

## Common questions before you visit

### Do I need an appointment?
Not on weekdays between 9am and 5pm, though calling ahead on 01322 221010 means we can have the products you want to see out and the right person free. Saturday visits are by appointment only.

### Where exactly are you and is there parking?
215 London Road, Stone, Greenhithe, Kent DA9 9DQ, minutes from Bluewater and the A2. There is free parking on site.

### Can I get a price while I'm there?
We can give you a sense of the options and what drives cost, but we do not issue prices without a survey. A representative visits your home first, then our surveyor measures and we issue a fixed written quote.

### What should I bring?
Photographs of the property from outside, rough measurements of the openings, and any architect's plans or planning correspondence. If you are in a conservation area, tell us, as it affects what we can specify.

### Can you show me products for a conservatory or an orangery?
Yes. We keep frame sections, warm roof build-ups, tile finishes and lantern samples so you can see how the different roof options are constructed rather than just how they look in a photograph.

### Do you sell to the public only, or to trade as well?
Both. Most of our work is for homeowners, but we also supply landlords, developers and managing agents. For contract work, see our trade and contract enquiries page.
